Revel (revelbookings.com) introduces clients to photographers, videographers and content creators. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Revel is in early testing and open to users in the United Kingdom. If that changes, this policy will be updated before it does.

What we collect

If you sign up as a creative

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your location, and the countries and distances you are willing to travel
  • What you do (photographer, videographer, content creator) and how you describe your work
  • Your portfolio: photographs and video you upload, along with any titles, descriptions and tags
  • Your profile photograph
  • Your social media handles and website
  • Your business details, if you provide them: business name, address, VAT number, business email and phone
  • Your bank details, if you provide them, so clients can pay you directly: account holder name, sort code, account number, IBAN, BIC, bank name and address
  • Your packages, prices, terms and proposal templates
  • Messages you send through Revel, and the proposals you submit
  • Your calendar entries and the dates you mark unavailable

If you sign up as a client

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your location, used to show you creatives near you
  • Your profile photograph, if you add one
  • Details of the events you post: date, place, venue, budget, guest numbers and your brief
  • Messages you send through Revel, and the creatives you save

Everyone

  • Your sign-in details, handled by our authentication provider (see below). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
  • Basic technical information created when you use the site, such as your approximate location derived from your device and standard server logs.

We do not use advertising trackers.

Why we collect it

  • To run the service. To show creatives to clients, to show jobs to creatives, to let the two message each other, and to let creatives send proposals.
  • To match you appropriately. Your location and travel preferences decide which jobs you see and which creatives a client is shown. Your location is stored as coordinates so distances can be calculated.
  • To review creative applications. Applications are read by hand before a profile goes live.
  • To keep Revel safe. If someone reports a user, we look into it. We may suspend or remove an account.
  • To contact you. About your account, an enquiry, a proposal or a booking.

Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (running the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping the platform safe and functional), and consent where you have given it.

Payment

Revel does not handle payments. We are an introduction service. Any fee is agreed and paid directly between the client and the creative. We do not take payment, hold money, or process card details.

Bank details a creative chooses to add are stored so they can be shown to a client who has agreed to book them. We do not use them to move money.

Who else sees your information

We use the following providers to run Revel. Each processes information on our behalf.

ProviderWhat it handles
SupabaseOur database, file storage and sign-in
VercelHosting the website
MapboxConverting place names you type into locations
ResendSending emails such as notifications and replies
GoogleSign-in, if you choose to use it

Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where information is transferred abroad, it is done under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Other users see:a creative’s public profile, portfolio and location are visible to clients, and their prices are visible to a client when the creative sends them a proposal. A client’s name, profile photograph and event details are visible to creatives on the jobs board. Messages are visible to the person you send them to. Your email address, phone number and bank details are never shown on your public profile.

We do not sell your information to anyone.

Reports

If you report another user, we are told what you reported and why. We do not tell the person you reported who reported them.

How long we keep it

  • While your account is open, we keep your information so the service works.
  • If you close your account, there is a thirty-day grace period in case you change your mind. After that your identity is removed.
  • Bookings, payment records and reviews survive your account closing, without your identity attached, because the other party needs a record of work they did or paid for.
  • Reviews are not deleted when an account closes, for the same reason.
  • Deleted files may remain briefly in caches before disappearing.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • Show you the information we hold about you
  • Correct anything wrong
  • Delete your information, subject to the records described above
  • Stop using it in certain ways, or object to how we use it
  • Send it to you or someone else in a portable format

Most of this you can do yourself in the app: edit your profile, or close your account from your settings. For anything else, email natevansphoto@gmail.com and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and storage

Revel stores information on your device to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your filter settings. This is necessary for the service to work. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

Children

Revel is not for anyone under 18. Do not sign up if you are under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you.

This policy was drafted with the help of AI and has not been reviewed by a solicitor. It describes how Revel actually works as of the date above.
